I just noticed (using another monitor) that every DNN site I visit does not seem to scale to fit the native resolution of any respective monitor, if that makes sense.

I built my site on a 17" widescreen laptop and tested on my 22"...and did further testing on my 19" at work. Now, however, after pulling up my site on the road on a 17" monitor, I just noticed this. Even the DNN site here consumes far more of the screen than displayed, forcing my to scroll side-to-side to see the whole page - whether the skin is set to full, wide, or even narrow.

Is there something I can do to get the page to display properly in all resolutions? This doesn't appear to be an IE setting, as most other sites display perfectly...like Yahoo, Google, the last 10-20 sites I randomly pulled up, etc.  :)

So in short, even when the site skin is set to narrow,  people running on smaller monitors and lower resolutions have to scoll (and quite a bit, too) side to side to see the content.

Really is an issue with many sites, not just DNN.  As Leupold suggests, using fixed sizes for skins help diminish the issues, but don't get rid of them for every instance.  If you have a public site, analyze your visitor usage and target your design to give you the best coverage for the majority of the browsers being used.  A client I had had 95% IE6 users, so that's what we targeted in the initial design.  We, also, employed various methods of allowing visitors to scale the site display themselves. 

A very good example of this type of self-customization is being used on the main DNN site.  At the top of the page, you will notice various icons that allow for visitors to scale the width of the display, and the font size.  Nik provides that skin object, when I got it, it was a freebie contribution.  Now, don't know if that's still available, or if it works with the most recent version (probably does since it's used on this site), but that's really the best you could do to help control the situation IMHO.

I'm updating a site later this weekend, so I'll be looking at doing that very thing, so I'll let you know how it goes, just to update you.

Yea, thanks Leupold for the update.  I just went through a round of attempting to update our test dnnv040505 site to incorporate the skinergy controls, but they're not working at the moment.  Some 'fixes' were suggested in sperrio's forum, but those don't bring relief for me either.  So, we'll see about the other sizers.  Pity, though, as it was working pretty well, in older versions.  Nik is pretty busy, so it's easy to see why there's difficulty in keeping up the freebie.

At any rate, the solution remains the same, incorporate some kind of technology to allow user customization.  Now, it's just getting a handle on the way to go about it.
