I have pruchase dotnetnuke for dummies and dotnetnuke 4, trying to install dnn on to a web server, set up the data base, iis set up when making the domain space.

down loadewd dnn4.5.5 install, unzipped and then ftp to my web space.

changed the web config in two sections (my data base online is sql  (THE PASS WORDS AND DATA BASE NAME ARE ALL DIFFERENT TO THE ONES THAT I USE, THIS IS JUST TO DEMOSTRATE  <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 -->add name="SiteSqlServer" ConnectionString="Server=mssql200.aa.dotsterhost.com;Database=db111111_dont_net;uid=u123_dont_net;pwd=dontnetnuke;"

providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

and

<!--

<

Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules -->add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=mssql200.aa.dotsterhost.com;Database=db111111_dont_net;uid=u123_dont_net;pwd=dontnetnuke;"/>

 when i ran the site for the first time online i got the following error message

Server Error in '/' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>
