What version of Windows do you have?

If XP pro (I'm not certain about the Home edition) then check and see if you have Internet Information Service installed.

Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Internet Information Service

Not Installed

If it is not there then you will have to install it.  It is a windows component which you can install.

Control Panel -> Add or Remove Progams -> Add/Remove Windows Components -> Internet Information Services (IIS).  You may need your installation disk for this.

Installed

If it is there then open it up (right-click) and check the properties of the  Default Web site under Web Sites

On the tab for Home Directory choose A directory on this computer.  In the box for Local Path enter (or browse to) the path of the directory where you installed DNN.  Minimum selection of Read but I also have Log Visits and Index this resource on my computer. Select  OK.

Right click on Default Web Site and select Start (or Restart if it was already running).

Open your browser and put just localhost or 127.0.0.1. The website will automatically look for index.html, index.htm or default.aspx and things should start happening.

P.S. if you get the Installation Wizard select Auto.  It seems to work consistently.

Good Luck,

Dave

Ibrahim,

welcome to the DotNetNuke Community!

regarding your issue make sure, you granted the necessary permissions in IIS Web Site / Virtual Directory settings for the virtual user "Network Service" (Win 2000/2003) or "ASPNET" (Windows XP).
