Put it in exactly like this (except remove the space after javas):

javas cript:void(window.open('http://www. ExternalSite.com'));

It may put the http:// part back on if you go to re edit, but the above works.

Hi, John

Using 4.5.5:

1. Code adds "http://" in front of javascript, so it has to be taken out on a DB level.

2. When you do that, SOLPARTMENU creates the following link: http://www.mysite.com/LinkClick.aspx?link=javascript%3avoid(window.open(%22downloads.aspx%22))%3b&tabid=56

John,

It does not work.  When you use the void synatx it still produces a JS error, typically something to the effect of a missing semicolon.  The http:// is added at save time which means the value stored in the DB contains the http://.  This is simply an invalid URL and would not be processed.

As it was put as well, you cannot remove the http:// from the DB value either as it would assume it's trying to be a file link of some sort.

If it was removed from the code to force the saving of the http:// prefix to the database, do you suppose it would process whatever it was given anyway?

I don't understand. My version of 4.5.5 does not have any problems using the code as the Url for an external link.

If you want me to, I'll take a look at what might be different on your install.

Strange... I just rerun the update to 4.5.5 (on already 4.5.5 portal) and now it works just fine... Very interesting... Thank you , John!
