I have been developing custom DNN for awhile now and will be giving a presentation at an upcoming conference on how to develop custom modules. I have come accross a question in writing my presentation that is giving a problem answering.

If I add a module to a page and give registered users the ability to edit - will they see "Settings" option under the actions drop down? I'm using DNN version 04.04.01. Most of what I see on the web indicates they will. When I test this out, however, they do not. I develop most of my modules and through standard practice remove the iactionable interface b/c I control what end users can do within my application within custom programming inside the application. I want, however, to give the correct answer within my presentation. It appears one must have administrator or host access to access the settings for a module. The edit permission seems to just let modules that have implement the iactionable interfce show the link to add content within their module.

Any ideas?

You need to give the user edit permission to that page in order for them to see the Settings option.

Hope it helps,

Thanks for the reply. Makes sense. Do you know if this was always the case in earlier versions of DNN?

Sorry, I don't know how long that has been the behavior.
