Hello,

I'm a DNN newbie and need your advice in planning out a roadmap for an old DNN app that is going to be handed over to us. Below are the characteristics of this app:

a.> Old DNN portal developed in version 1.x (trying to find out the exact version). b.> Fully internal portal with controlled set of users. c.> Basic portal with links pointing to reports collected from SQL Server 2000 and the built in forums and help modules.

One of the first things that we need to plan out is to upgrade this portal to the latest (4.5.x) version and I'm trying to come up with a high level approach. Questions I have:

a.> Is there a route to upgrade this app to the latest version? Intermediate upgrade steps? b.> Based on the information above is upgrade or rewrite a better option? Your opinions, thoughts and pointers are highly sought.

find out, which modules are used in your portal and whether there are customizations, that will influence upgrade.

If you only have a standard installation, you shall be able to upgrade via DNN 1.0.10e, 2.1.2, 3.2.2, 3.3.7, 4.4.1, 4.5.5. Make sure, to use appropriate versions of ASP.Net and make backups on each step. good luck.
