You only need the web.config file.

Just upload the dnn files and DNN will trigger the upgrade for you.

Cheers

I have done this and added a new portal alias to new site (www,newdomain.com). I can log in wtih Morzilla okay but IE will not log in. If I use the correct  login and passcode for host or admin it just gives me the home page with login, if I give bad passwword,. gives me an error. ONly with IE. Now if I go to subdomain.domain.com  it works fine. I have restarted applicaion,  cleared cache but IE doesnot seem to work. Where did I do wrong here.

Ok, when you upgrade the framework of DNN there is a file in the zip that you downloaded called release.config.

You need to copy the machine keys as shown above from your exisiting web.config file into the new release.config file.

Once you have done that and also transferred your database connection strings you then rename the release.config file to web.config and then copy all of the files from the unzipped location to your web site which triggers the upgrade automatically.

If you have already done this and not transferred your machine keys you will need to get them from a backup you have and transfer them so that DNN can decrypt the passwords and allow you access to your site.

You're right it doesn't login.  It the IFRAME that is messing it up.  Is there a reason you are masking it that way?

If you look in the bottom status bar of IE you can see where the privacy manager has blocked the cookies from the third party site.

Interesting that FireFox doesn't block it though.
