I'm having a difficult time getting portals to actually work. My situation is this: I have a domain hosted with a company that has DNN3.1 installed. I also have a few other domain names parked with them. What I want to do is have a main site (on the hosted domain where DNN is installed) for our whole family, and 2 subsite portals (one of my side of the family and the other for my wife's). Then under these two subsites, I need individual portals for each family member and he'd be allowed to modify his site as he wants to.
I want the URL structure to look like this:
www.MainSite.com (this is the hosted domain with DNN) which will basically link to the other main portals and the individual family members.
www.MyFamilySite.com (for my side of the family) with family contact info, news, and links to family members, etc.
www.MyWifesFamily.com (for my wife's family) same as above
www.MyFamilySite.com/me which would be my personal site
www.MyFamilySite.com/myBrother his site
and so on.
As it is right now, when creating a portal (logged in as host), I can't figure out where it's actually being created or how to fill in the fields correctly so it goes where I want. If I leave the Home Directory field blank it will say the site is in a folder called Portals/# and even doing that, I can't seem to open a new portal if I go to any variation of the domain name and it's sub folders.
So I'm really looking for some sort of tutorial or walkthrough that will show how to set up a situation like this.
I'll also need to design several templates that family members can choose for their personal sites, and that I can use for the main sites. Are there any tutorials for that sort of stuff as well?
Thanks MUCH for any help.
