I am trying to call a method from the codebehind in a control from javascript, but the solutions i have found for general ASP.NET don't work (PageMethods.MethodToCall(...). Unfortunately I get javascript errors on PageMethods. I set EnablePageMethods in Page_Load. Am I missing something?

PageMethods only work when calling methods on Pages, not usercontrols.  Your only option is to create the method in an asmx file (webservice), and register the service reference.

That would explain it, thanks for the response. Just curious is there any other way to call a method in my usercontrol from javascript?

Use a web service. See:

The next version of the ClientAPI will include something called ControlMethods that do exactly what you are looking for.  See this blog for info.

Until that is released you can always use a callback which has been a part of DNN since 3.2
