My site has several portals. Currently I have the Google Analytics code built in to me skin. This was the easy way to see the hits for my primary portal. Now I would like to be able to setup an Analytics account for easy parent portal.  There is a portal.css, but there doesn't appear to be a unique piece of HTML or aspx on a per portal basis.

Does anyone have a good idea of how to do this and an easy way?

Really you have 3 options.

1.) Make a custom skin for each portal and insert the code just as you did for your current portal, just be sure to use the proper skin for each portal.

2.) Add a text/HTML module to a page and then put the Google Analytics code in the header, setup the module to display on all pages and set it to not show the container

3.) Download and install one of the various Google Analytics modules available (mostly free) and add it to all pages.

I personally have opted for option 2.  Now there are some downsides and upsides to options 2 and 3.

You will ONLY have google analytics tracking code on pages where the module is "displayed", therefore any admin, host or edit pages will NOT be tracked.  This could be a benefit or downfall depending on your specific needs.

This is the pick of the free bunch: http://www.ifinity.com.au/Blog/TechnicalBlog/tabid/60/EntryID/18/Default.aspx

It can exclude a specific role and also a specifc host.

A new version of SVS - GoogleAnalytics on the South Village Software website will be available shortly that includes an option to exclude script generation for certain roles (thanks goes out to John Mitchel for the code examples for this option).
