Hi,

I've been trying to install DNN4.05.05 Starter Kit, but each time, I'm getting the following errors.

Installation completed with errors.

Installation stopped because the directory of the ProjectType value did not exist.
The project type is invalid for your installation of Visual Studio.

Please help.

Thanks!

Hi,

Yes, I have VWD 2005 Express.

I've actually ignored this, and continued with my DNN Installation in VWD, and it worked fine.

1. Open VWD.

2. New Website.

3. Point to the DotNetNuke template (make sure there's only 1 template).
    - If there's more than 1, it's stronlgy advised that you delete all other dotNetNuke Templates from your local drive.
    - Usually located in "C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Microsoft\VWDExpress\8.0\ProjectTemplatesCache\Visual Web Developer\VisualBasic"
    - Delete all older "DotNetNuke.zip" files, and keep the latest.

4. Open VWD - New Website, and select the DotNetNuke template again.

5. It will unzip the site into VWD.

6. From there, click "Database Explorer" on the right side of VWD, and connect to your db.
    - Before you do this, ensure that you have already created a database in SQL2005 Express. (Follow the Installation Guide.)

I finally done it. It's so cool!

Thanks!

Installation stopped because the directory of the ProjectType value did not exist.

i got this today with DNN ver 4.02.06

I moved on but then run the website, it gets stuck on Installing database Scripts.

i get this error  in i.e.

line 107

char 13

Error: Syntax error

code:0

....localhost....InstallWizard.aspx

if i hit previous i get

line 3

char 1

Error Syntax error

Then i managed to get this error.

DotNetNuke Error: - Version 04.06.02

The stored procedure 'dbo.GetPortalAliasByPortalID' doesn't exist.

Which means I just followed another way of installation that works better for me.

I have used the started kit before and it worked fine, but for my purposes

today i am just installing this dnn this way.  http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/DNN4_DevelopmentEnvironment/DNN4DevelopmentEnvironment1.htm

make sure you fill in the custom server path.

although the first time I did it this way today I did not get the dnn module templates. so i thought i would try the starter kit.  I am using sql server manager and not the built in sql manager in vwd express so maybe that had something to do with it.
