I'm having the following error when trying to setup on Vista 64bit with sql 2008. I believe this points to something in IIS but everything seems to be what the tutorial says to do.

HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error

The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid.

I figured this out.  Turns out that Vista does not have .Net services for IIS configured as a default install.  Needed to setup to run ASP.NET applications.

I also just recently posted an article on this topic on my website.  I tried to make the tutorial easy to follow with lots of screenshots.  Hope it helps anyone out there having difficulty getting DNN up and running on Vista.

http://www.sunsethillsolutions.com/Resources/DotNetNuke.aspx

Using the instruction on the link above, I've come the closest to getting DNN 04.09.01 installed on my Vista Business.  I finally made it past the DB connection page, but as it starts installing/upgrading the DB I get the falling error:

...
...

Upgrading Database to Version 4.6.2...Success
Upgrading Database to Version 4.7.0...Success
Upgrading Database to Version 4.8.0...Success
Upgrading Database to Version 4.8.1...FAILURE  -

and then it just hangs there forever.  I run the procedures from start to finish 3 times, stopping at this point every time.  Anyone have any suggestions as to where I need to look to solve this problem or what might need change?

Thanks for any help in my endevour.

Jack

I am hestiating because the page says "The trick here is to download the Install Version".

When I go to the link, which is the dotnetnuke home page, there's no mention of an Install Version.
