Fri 2010.04.23 I too am experiencing the same error using a similar h/w s/w environment. DDN wont install - error 18456 occurs after permissions check I d/l DotNetNuke_Community_05.03.01_Source.zip on 2010.04.17 I have attempted this install for the third time now. Just after the "Your site passed the permissions check" test, error 18456, "Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'" occurs. Although I have limited knowledge on 'all' the security requirements for SQL server, I was have been successful using SQL Server Management Studio, in viewing the db Database.mdf file and are able to view the Users table, with the two default populated entries of 'host' and 'admin'. I then detach the db before continuing the install. This proves to me the db is intact, and that a separate application is able to access the .mdf file contents. This implies a connection issue, but haven't the foggiest on how to proceed. Any assistance would be helpful, as I would like to evaluate this product. Robin The tools I am using: Vista Home Premium SP1 (patched as of 2010.03.29 with what I thought to be SP2) Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Version 9.0.30729.1 SP Microsoft .NET Framework Version 3.5 SP1 Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 10.0.1600.22 ((SQL_PreRelease).080709-1414 ) Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 6.0.6001.18000 (longhorn_rtm.080118-1840) The screen data: /DotNetNuke_Community/Install/InstallWizard.aspx File Permissions Summary: Create Folder Create File Delete File Delete Folder --------------------------------------- Your site passed the permissions check. Click Next Configure Database Connection As explained on the page for SQL Express I selected the file option I checked Integrated Security Click Next Connection Error(s): Index #: 0 Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider Class: 11 Number: 4064 Message: Cannot open user default database. Hi, I'm going to develop a web application that has one and very important requirement, the BLL (Bussiness Logic Layer) must be a WebService. Question: Exist a DNN version that install and comunicate thiers default modules with DAL (Data acces Layer) with a WebService. If not how can I get this goal using DNN? Thanks
