As far as I can tell, all the upgrades went smoothly.  DNN was upgraded from 4.5.3 to 4.5.5.  I'm not sure what the old version of the forum was, but I believe it was the most recent.  If I'm interpreting you correctly, I am the only person who has access to the database.

I believe the problem began when I deleted the Smileys and Image galleries, but I'm not 100% certain of that.

this issue is for sure an Forums isssue, not related to UsersOnline. It seems to try to read forum related values from table ModuleSettings which return illegal empty values.

I suggest to make a backup and manually delete all Settings with ID of your forumModule, that have a Name "Provider" and seem to be pointing to either Gallery or Smileys.

I appreciate the help, but I'm afraid I'm one of those users with very little technical know-how.

Which Settings and where?  In the database?  Or in one of the folders?  Or just using my browser?

I don't like to touch code unless I have very specific instructions.

I will offer you to contact me via Windows (MSN / Live) Messenger at matthias.schlomann at taunusstein.org

I think for that it will be the best way.

Regards

Matthias
