Hi,

I'm installing DNN in a corporate environment and the DBA's are requesting initial sizing and growth estimates.  Any clues?  There will be 1 portal, 10 admin-level users, and probably 50-60 viewers.

Initially, there will be no reason for viewers to register, but within a few months, I'm sure we'll add forums, feedback, suggestions, and requests, which will entail enabling the registration module.  Which I assume affects database size.

So - can anyone help me with some ROUGH numbers?  I can always revise later, and I'd rather spec it too big than too small.

Thanks!

Chris

If nothing else, please just tell me how big your database is?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,

An default database is under 10mb.  However, for sizing you need to consider the number of pages on your site, hits per page and the level of logging you wish to maintain.  Also, it depends on the how you configure your database for backups.  If you maintain full transaction logging, the data base transaction logs can grow especially if you have considerable changes to the site data.  If the site is mostly viewing data, then you may want to go with a simple database (no transaction log)  where your perform frequent backups.

DIsk space is cheap ... ask for lots (200mb + 10% growth per month for the DB) and see what they say.... <grin>   You will also need space for your backup files and IIS Logs too.

Hope this helps   Paul.
