For some reason, my default admin user lost view module properties. Admin stills associated to Administrator rule (and I think that this association can not be removed for admin user).

As far as I realized, there is no way to change this permission for admin, that is, this role should be always set.

I have some pages only available for admin users and the modules added display a red box informing that content is only available for admin.

If I log as host, I am able to see content of this admin area, but if I log as admin user, I see the page but not the content of modules. I only see the warning red message "Visible By Administrators Only"

Seeing the module properties I realize that if I set Inherit View permissions from Page, view module property is disabled (and also is not possible to check it), however the page role "view page" is visible for admin. If I do not set Inherit View permissions from Page rule, view module property is set. In both cases the rule does not affect user admin, since I am not able to see module content.

If I create another user with administrator rule, this new user is able to see module content.

Any help would be appreciated.

i assume you activated Design mode by accident: click "Design" button (last button in left section of control panel at the top of the page).

As leupold mentioned you have most likely activated design mode....

Now that I think of it, there should be a more visible manner to indicate that you are in design mode....
