Hello,

I have installed 4.0.2 with SQL Express 2005 and the host account works perfectly.  The admin account on the other hand will hang after updating certain settings (like module settings) and then auto-logout.  The browser status shows the update was done but with errors.  The update process does not complete.  If I click anywhere else to navigate to on the site it logs me out and I have to re-login.  Any Ideas???

I think I figured out what was the problem.  After I entered my users, I went to the security role Administrator and added the users through the security role configuration.  For some reason, this causes DNN to encounter errors and log out the Administrator user.  I removed the users from the security role and re-added them to the role by editing each individual user.  This fixed my problem.

I guess I spoke too soon.  I am still having auto log out problems with 4.0.2.  My admin users will make a change and click update, and they will be logged out and their changes lost.  Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.  When it isn't working, the only way to make a change is to login as host.  One user told me that if he uses firefox, he doesn't get logged out.  Could this be an IE issue?  I reviewed all security settings and allowed everything, but still no dice.  Anyone else having these problems???

I found this on another thread and will try it tomorrow.  Maybe this is just a security level issue in IE.

How to fix when logins fail on IE6:

1. Open IE6
2. Menu items "Tools" >> "Internet Options"
3. Select the "Privacy" tab
4. Click the "Sites" button
5. Type in your site (e.g. "mysite.com")
6. Click the "Allow" button
7. Click the "OK" button

try to login now

I will update if it works.

I fixed my issue by moving my sites from the child role to the parent role.  For some reason IE loses authentication with sites with the child role.
