I have created a module which creates an applicationSettings group in the web.config as well as relies on a dll file.  The applicationSettings has a value which points to an asmx file on a remote server.  This is the only way I could get this to work effectively.  Also, I need the dll file in the ~/bin directory for this to work.    The problem is that the module installation process 1.) won't put the web.config entries in, and 2.) puts the dll file into a subfolder of the bin directory called Modules.  So after I install the module on a remote installation, I have to manually edit the web.config to add the reference to the asmx file and move the dll file up one directory then the module works great.

Does anyone know of a better solution that this as my intent is to create a module which simply can be installed and work without manually editing files and moving files around.

Thanks,

Dash

Dash,

You should be able to get the DLL to install to the proper location, as for the web.config entires, no there is not an easier way, there is currently not method to dynamically modify the web.config on the install process.

Just make sure that you are not specifiying a folder name for your .dll file inside your .dnn file and you should be ok.
