OK. This'll sound like a total noob, but I gotta ask since I can't find this in the book (DotNetNuke for Dummies).  I've gotten a good start with DNN. I've got some pages going and I'd like to put them up on my website. I can ftp files up to my provider, but where are they!?  I mean, my website (www.joneschristianschool.com) still has the message on it that says, "This site is coming soon!" I know I somehow need to move the developed work from my local system (?) to my provider's server, right? Where are the files? Or have I missed something fundamental...? Soooorrry!

To move from your local instance to your production instance you'll need to copy the database and file system over from local to production. You'll then have to setup DotNetNuke on your production server, it looks like you don't have it setup on there yet.

DNN isn't designed to just push one page at a time up, though there are ways to do that, you need to have the code and database configured in both locations first.

Thanks, Chris. That's what I needed. I had a feeling that I wasn't finished! Although I had installed DNN for my domain within my shared hosting environment at GoDaddy (requested and had it installed), I haven't configured anything there and I hadn't grasped the concepts of different instances. I do get the whole things about there aren't individual pages to push being the core of the whole CMS deal. OK, back to the books!

Thanks again!

Actually, it was much simpler than that. Like I said, I'm a noob! Turns out that the only reason I couldn't see the website when I went to the "unqualified URL" (www.mysite.com), was that I had to have a redirect page since GoDaddy installs DNN in a subdirectory, /dotnetnuke. So I had to qualify the URL: www.mystie.com/dotnetnuke. Because of that, I did the research and found out how to move the installation up to the root directory. That fixed it! I'm published!

Thanks,
azanna
