Hi All,
For all those of you who were unfortunately not able to attend OpenForce Europe '07 I am happy to report that the event was well worth the time, investment and travel to Arnhem.
First of all, thanks to the SDC for hosting a great conference. We were well feed and watered!!!
As for the DotNetNuke Core Team members who attended to frontline DotNetNuke OpenForce, they delivered informative presentations which left DNNer's salivating and motivated.
I myself picked up a few new tricks and insights that will undoubtedly impact on my DNN projects in the immediate future.
The release of 4.6.0 is packed with some great new enhancements and optimisations for Custom Module developers. These added features include new methods for the DAL+, optimization for hydrating your business objects, caching your module data, improved IPortable Serialization to name just a few.
Also unveiled were new methods that are in development that will be available in forthcoming releases that will enable you to optimise your code further with the upcoming release of VS 2008 and ASP.NET 3.5.
I'll leave the details to the guys at the helm. :-)
Moving on, the CT members covered a broad base of important areas such as providers, scheduling, skinning, searching, localisation, troubleshooting, application migration to DNN modules, security, AJAX and business opportunities within the ecosystem.
As for the future - its bright! Full of great features that will enable developers to confidentially promote, create and establish business within the DNN ecosystem. With such a strong foundation and a hardcore team of developers at work it will continue to make its mark in the marketplace, enabling you to provide valuable products and services easily and effortlessly for all your existing and new customers, right on up to enterprise level.
Yeap, Localisation and content workflow were on the top of the list for discussion as well as social networking and enhanced user interfaces.
If you have the opportunity to attend OpenForce '07 in Las Vegas in November I would highly recommend you make the effort to be there - It will make a difference in your ability to future proof your DNN endeavours - NOW!
Thanks lads, it was a pleasure meeting you and getting to know you all.
Thumbs up from the Irish! :-) You guys Rock!!!!!!!!
Colin
P.S. Shaun Walker does smile! LOL
