Hi!

I found 3 steps to install the ActiveDirectory Provider, but there is a step I' m doubting to do.

The link to the steps is:

http://www.getyourowntots.com/Blog/tabid/57/EntryID/218/Default.aspx

Is it still necessary to do this?:

Within the Web.config file
Use your Windows Explorer to locate the root install of your Dotnetnuke website files.
Open web.config in a text editor. Notepad works well.
Find the line that looks like this
i. <!-- add name="Authentication" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.AuthenticationModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Authentication" / -->

Change the above line of code to look appear as follows
i. < add name="Authentication" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.AuthenticationModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Authentication" />

Save the file

I just noticed, within the web.config there is a line that says:

<add name="Authentication" type="DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.HttpModules.AuthenticationModule, DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory" />

And so, I think maybe in the "new" version this is not necessary.

Thanks!

Yes that blog post that Stuart has done was for the previous version of the AD Provider so you don't have to edit the web.config

I've got the AD install working... but have a question.  My DNN is setup for extranet use. For some reason, the app is sending browsers to the /DesktopModules/AuthenticationServices/ActiveDirectory/WindowsSignin.aspx page instead of the default.aspx home page. How can I prevent this?

And is there a way to reorder the tabs on the login page so that Windows Login is default?

Thanks!

Comment out <add name="Authentication.... /> in your web.config. That'll stop users from being forwarded to windowssignin.aspx.

I'll get back to you on re-ordering the tabs. I have to try an idea out first.

EDIT: I tried out my idea and it works but it's a little convoluted. The order of the tabs corresponds to the order that the providers are in the Authentication table so in the database open up the Authentication table. Copy the row that has DNN in the Authentication field into a new row. Then delete the original row.

I'm going to try that comment suggestion, but I still want to use that page... just not be forced into it.
