I believe the host restarted the IIS and it is working now.

I know what ya mean with wh4l.  We have 3 dnn sites all running 4.5.5 all seems ok apart from either when they do their maintenance plan which always seems to be when i work on our sites.  Other time it's when the server we have our sites running on the worker process freezes and needs either recycling as christoc pointed out by making a conf change automatically restarts the app. If ya finding is happening a lot ask them to move your app to a less busy application pool. I have the wierd thing where sometimes when i do a upgrade the sites upgrade ok but when i click goto site the application pool throws me a exception until recycled.
