I stopped the IIS instance for DOTNETNUKE, then in the DOTNETNUKE install directory I copied the release.config overtop of the web.config.  Next I restarted the instance DOTNETNUKE in IIS Manager and everything started to work from there.

Make sure you backup the web.config file if there is anything important in their for your site before doing this.

Now I just gotta figure out AD integration...

Hope this helps,

Dave

I also have the same problem.  From a fresh install of 4.6.0 and its happening with the Links and Announcements module.  Text/HTML module works fine.

If also tried to reinstall the announcement module from the .resource file but did not fix it.

I'm a little concerned since its a fresh install.

I found my problem and fixed it.  It was a cut and paste issue on the connection tag for legacy modules.  My error.  Turns out that the Announcements and Links modules actually use this one.

I had:

    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules -->
    <add  key="*******;Database=****;uid=****;pwd=*****;" />

Instead of the proper below:

    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules -->
    <add  key="SiteSqlServer" value="*******;Database=****;uid=****;pwd=*****;" />
