Im not on Vista either - its a hosting company running win2003 servers.  I have three 4.5 installations running with these guys fine since early this year. The web directories and access rights are fine - my install now starts OK and progresses through the permissions tests, these all check back OK. Then no matter which type of install I pick I always end with the same error - about access rights to LogFailures.xml.resources

We've already been through checking the root level web directory has the correct access rights, and I guesse the DNN install tells me that is OK by the fact it can create and delete files and folders in the test stage of the install.

So far no running 4.6.2.... and no enlightenment about how to get over this showstopper either...

I'm on a hosting company running windows2003 asp.net 2.0 and mssql 05. I have gotten the 4.6.2 install to work after getting the same error about access rights to LogFailures.xml.resources. Here's what I did....

I just worked around the "..log failures"error message, by doing a refresh when I got the error. It then went to the ../install/install.aspx where I got prompted with 3 options custom, manual and auto I believe. Auto is the important one, all others fail. So like I read in another post, you absolutely have to choose the auto option on the install page as the other options do not work right now. By the way, I am just getting started with http://www.ixwebhosting.com/ , and so far they offer excellent support , and of course now that I have it working I can say they are DNN compatible.

Got it working in the end.

I found a few files get created early on when you start running setup, including dotnetnuke.config, if the install doesnt work first time and you end up adjusting the connection details or customErrors then its worth killing that file so next time you run the install afresh as far as the installer is concerned. I also deleted and re-created the DB.  I went with auto-install as prescribed by shelton and it seemed to go smoothly from there (thanks!)

Im running with UK hosts http//www.pipeten.com btw, 4.5.1 and 4.6.2 compatible with some amazing support staff - I've quizzed them on live-chat at midnight for instant results and 2 min call closure times, phenomenal.

I have been struggling to install DNN 4.7 but I kept getting an error, but when I tried the " Auto" option everything went like charm, thanks a lot!
