I'm thinking of creating a business to sell various things.  I have setup a DNN site for a school and I loved working with the program.  But I don't know how secure it will be for creating a business.  I know that it comes with built in modules for shopping carts, but how good are they?  Do you need to implement all kinds of securing features, or can I just host it on Godaddy and let them worry about the security?

Also, does it come with built in support for accepting credit cards and paypal or is that external?

Any info you can provide would be appreciated.  Thanks

-Jacob

Any payments are handled through the payment gateway that does the actual payment processing.

As far as I know, DNN only has built-in connections to PayPal as a payment gateway.

In general, with e-commerce....you gather as much non-sensitive information on your own site.  When it comes to payment, you link to the payment gateway providing the gateway with an identifier for the transaction and the total amount.  The payment gateway then gathers the pertinent payment information and reports back to you with the transaction identifier and whether or not that transaction went through.  Your site is never gathering any sensitive information.  The payment gateway handles their own security.

In your example, Godaddy wouldn't be providing the security since Godaddy isn't a payment gateway.

I hope this helps you out.
