I know this subject has been bantered about over the years, but I was hoping to get some feedback from experienced users on what you consider to be the single best way to assign a user to a Security Role for downloading a digital product after making the purchase on a Standard PayPal account.

Thanks for any feedback on the best use of core / third-party tools to accomplish this.

Mitchel, thanks for the info. I am trying to figure out the main difference between Inventua PayPal and Gumbosoft's PayPal modules.

Have you used the Inventua module with IPN to assign user roles and expiry dates, etc?

Thanks for any other info, experiences and examples anyone might be able to provide.

I am testing the Inventua PayPal, but I guess it is not totally intuitive. It forces a visitor to be logged into the site as a registered user before you can display the PayPal product options. So I am trying to figure out how best to display the products to a visitor, but then pass them to a Registration page before passing them to a PayPal module page. I guess I can say that Registration on the site is required to provision their license after payment...or something like that.

Has anyone had experience with this or could point to a site that fully leverages the features of the Inventua PP module?

Thanks.

I bought Gumbo's PayPal Cart module the other day and have had some interaction with the developer. He took on two suggestions I had and added them overnight - Always a good sign when a developer is positive and productive! Definitely one of the better module purchases I've made.

I'm not sure the module will do exactly what you want, but it does let you display a templated product or service... and the option to force registration takes them to the DNN registration page when they want to purchase. I haven't set it up like that myself so I'm not exactly sure how it steps through... I'm using it anonymously.

My suggestion is to put a question to the developer on the Snowcovered product page and let him tell you more.
