I have read a ton of stuff about DNN taking a long time to load when a site has just been installed or when the site has not been accessed in a while.  My site is taking over 4 minutes to load when it has not been accessed in the past 30 minutes.

Can someone please give me some suggestions what to check and how to fix issues that might be causing this?

If it is a module causing this issue, how will I know?

Are there settings in the web.config or IIS that I can change?

It was taking only around 1 minute, but for some reason it jumped to 4, and I am not sure why.  I am using XMod, and created a new form, but the form page is totally separate from the main page, and I do not see how that could be causing it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Please let me know what information I need to provide, because I am not sure where to even begin.

thanks

during first start, all modules need to be compiles, therefore adding large modules increased the load time. you can use a keep alive service (like e.g. from www.host-tracker.com) to prevent app recycle after 20 minutes of inactivity.

I tried host-tracker and it did not work for me.

So are you saying that each time the app recycles and I then visit the site, it recompiles all the modules?

What I have tried now is that I disabled the idle shutdown for worker processes on the ASP.NET 2.0 Application pool.  That seems to help.  Any comments on doing this?

Is anyone else having a similar problem and if so, what are some of the solutions you have done.

if you can disable idle recycling, that will work as well, make sure, you enable recycling though, when recources needs to be freed.
