I can no longer get a module menu to come up on any of the pages of the website I’m trying to build with DNN. This is my first and I’m at an utter loss. When I hover on a module menu button, I only get an animated dial, but no menu. There’s an “Error on page.” Here’s what I get when I bring that up. Any suggestions?!

Line number, char number
Error: ‘childNodes(…)’ is null or not an object
Code:0

Thanks,
azanna.

I was able to figure out what was wrong here...

I had moved my installation of 4.5.3 up to the GoDaddy root directory and left the DotNetNuke folder with the original installation.

When I brought up my website, I went into the /dotnetnuke site instead of the root site. My bad!

Thanks,
azanna

Same problem here, however it has nothing to do with installation/setup paths. It was playing fine. I was coding some of my own modules, and one day I noticed that the module menus cannot open. The problem persists even on pages with default modules, without any of my own...

Hi, Wizard. I thought I'd fixed my problem, but I haven't. I still can't get a module menu up. I even had GoDaddy help me "reset" my whole domain and I STILL have this problem!!! My best understanding it that I created the problem by reinstalling DNN w/out saving off the original web.config file which I should have copied over into the new installation. The "machinekey" in that file is what has to be preserved. Who knew?!

I'm still SOL and have no idea how to recover. My whole domain is useless.

ARGH!
azanna.

azanna,

you might need to edit the portal alias directly in the database: go to table PortalAlias and enter the correct path.
