I don't think the creators of DNN have any idea how much the horrible performance of these forums are holding them back.  If people can't read, post or search these forums then it may well be said that there is ZERO COMMUNITY surrounding DNN.  These forums are the entire community.  All the hints, tips, tricks and help are contained in here.  What good is this if no one can use it?  The performance is abysmal at best and that's when it works.  Most of the time we (friends and colleagues) get a time out or other error message trying to search for answers to our questions.

None of this is new.  It has been going on for years.  A sincere thank you to the people who spent their time to make this work but some times you need to stop throwing good time and money away.  Either switch to something that works or outsource this again.

I beg you to consider this.

While these forums may seem horrible to you, I think they have improved quite a bit over the past 6 months. I rarely have problems. The search isn't the best, but after time I've just grown accustomed to using google. I don't often get a timeout, unless I'm trying to search a wide date range.

I also seriously doubt the forums are holding this project back.

My friend Google and I disagree with that statement. ;)

The performance problems of late are not the result of the forum module, but a result of the website being overloaded.  We are in the middle of an infrastructure upgrade to ease performance issues.  Since our primary infrastructure person is on a temporary leave of absence for October, these upgrades will not be complete until November.  Part of this upgrade will also include an upgrade to the new version of the forums which should resolve any perf issues in the forums.
