Hello,

Am attempting to migrate a highly complex generic ASP.NET form written in Visual Studio to DNN 4.5.5.

When the SQL query executes fine when logged in with the Host account, data is returned to the form and displays properly.

But, when logged in as a regular DNN user, the SQL query executes but no data is returned to be displayed, the default page doesn't reload with the new data.

As far as we know, there is no code that explicitly tries to modify the security of the module and am uncertain how to go about tracking down this problem.

Short of a proper solution, is there a way to run a module with upgraded permissions? The idea is that if the module currently runs fine with an Admin account, then if the module can run under that security context no matter what the regular User's permissions might be, that would be an acceptable workaround.

TIA.

Your problem is either very complex or very simple. Let's start with making sure that the instance of your module has the proper view access / edit acess rights for the user role you are having trouble with. You can modify view / edit permissions for Administrators, All Users, and other Roles under your Module's Basic Settings section.

My guess it is related to the cache setting.

Ensure that the module cache time is set to 0!

Howdy all,

A FYI - Yes, it turned out to be a module cache problem. Be aware that you need to inspect cache settings in at least 2 different places... The Module Cache setting when you first install the module into DNN and also with each individual instance deployed on a page.

I wasn't aware of that second setting.
