I've been messing around with DNN for a few days developing some simple modules to get the hang of the API etc.

Suddenly the menu has stopped appearing when using IE7, but appears and works fine on Firefox. I can't identify any particular thing I changed that might have caused this.

IE reports a javascript error    'dnn' is undefined

I have reloaded DotNetNuke entirely, installed it into a new database, and cleared out the IE cache, but the menu continues not to appear in IE, fine on Firefox. I'm using the standard grey skin that come with the install. The problem occurs with both the horizontal and vertical menu skin.

My configuration is: XP Pro (fully patched), Firefox 2.0.0.7, IE 7, DNN 4.6.2 (though the problem appeared on the previous version prior to upgrading to 4.6.2, SQL Server 2005

Grateful for some pointers on this!

Chris N

If you could provide a url to review, it would help.  If not, please open the site in IE, do a File -> Save As...  make sure the complete site is selected in Save as type dropdown.  Choose an empty folder location.  Zip the contents and email it to me.  In email, refer to this thread, so I don't loose track of who is sending what.

Looks like you have a httpmodule installed on your site and have it enabled for js files.  If you look at all the js files coming doiwn you will see this at the bottom of each.

<p>This is the footer</p>

This is causing the script errors.

Thanks Jon.

In fact, not an HTTP module, simply a file specified in Enable Document Footer on the IIS Documents tab.  I was checking to see if some javascript could be included in every page this way, for Google Analytics.

Perhaps it's worth noting somewhere in the documentation that the IIS Enable Document Footer facility should not be used?
