Hi,

You can see the Smart-Thinker Groups module in action on PokerDIY, a social network for poker players. It has friend lists, profiles, events, groups and loads more...

If you look at the poker player directory, you can see there are "Add to Group" buttons - this is a nice way of inviting users to groups you have created (the next version of the Events module has "Invite to Event" too)

I am just about to release the new  version of the Groups module which has member approval - the Group Owner can optionally approve new members, so people can apply to join (if public and joinable). Another new feature is that all users are now invited instead of being immediately added. They can then approve or decline the group invitation, like on YouTube.

The Smart-Thinker modules are based mostly on MySpace, Facebook and YouTube implementations...

ps - here is an example of the poker player profiling system  -you can see the user's friends (another new feature in the Groups module is that you can only allow users to invite group members from within their friends). You can also see the groups that a user belongs too and send them a message, invite them to an event, league or group (the league module is a non-commerical module, but you get the idea....
