I just did a fresh install of DNN 4.6.2 on a Server 2003 machine with SQL Server 2005 and when I use a browser on this Server 2003 machine, the site comes up fine, I can log in and make changes, etc.  However, when I point another machine to this site (http://myserver/dnn), I get back :
Internet Explorer cannot display the web page
Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet, etc

I don't have any problem pointing to other virtual directories on this server (http://myserver/site2).  I've got default.aspx as my default document but even typing in default.aspx doesn't help.  Any ideas?    Thanks

It sounds like you need to configure your dns records.

Thanks, but I can get to another directory on the same server without a problem.   I also get the same error when pointing to the ip address/dnn.   I can actually hear the server crunching away for a few seconds before the error appears so I'm pretty sure my remote machine (on the same subnet) is hitting the server.  Could something be messed up in my web.config or maybe my SQL configuration?   Thanks for any tips.

I finally figured out my problem.  The portal was configured for "localhost/mysite" so when I pointed to this server from a remote machine, it didn't work.  After adding "ip-address/mysite" as a portal alias, then I could attach to the site remotely.  I guess I shouldn't have installed DNN with the "localhost" command?
