I see the community is currently in the throws with near version upgrade issues, but I hope someone can take the time to help me out.

I have a website (http://www.plano-vfw.org) that I'd like to bring current. It's currently sitting at v2.0.4 (as best I can tell). I realize this will be a multi-step upgrade but I'm having a problem finding information about the specific steps I need to take (all-inclusive) as well as locating all the various bits. The website uses only standard DNN modules; no custom. My primary concern is that the graphics/css will not carry forward. I have no idea who produced the graphics.

Any help, guidance, links, etc will be most helpful. Thanks in advance.

Chris

DNN 2.0.4 shall be able to upgrde - in multiple steps, this will include the skin, as long as it is a HTML skin, otherwise you might need to adopt paths.

I suggest to proceed as follows (you might find this check list useful: http://www.deutschnetnuke.de/tabid/186/Default.aspx ):

Upgrade to 2.1.2

Upgrade to 3.2.2 - ignore eventual skin issues

Upgrade to 4.0.2 - stilll ignore eventual skin issues

Upgrade to 4.3.7 - stilll ignore eventual skin issues

Upgrade to 4.6.2.

If there are skin issues, log in as host, go to Skins in host menu, select and reparse your skins, ditto for your containers. If this does not work, you might need to adopt paths manually at the first lines of your ascx files according to the first lines at the default skin.

All in all, it went a bit better than expected.

  • I had a few permissions/access issues I had to work out with my web host.
  • I'm getting my skinner (Snapsis) to update my skin.
  • My calendar events won't display. I'll post on the events forum about that.

Thanks!
