I've loaded the forums in to their respective page in my site and I have three different users - host, admin (obviously) and a registered user account for testing.  whenever I try to make a new post in one of my forums the only account that allows that is the admin account - my user, and my host accounts do not not have the ability to post.  I'm sure that this is a simple setting somewhere, but I cannot find it to save my life.  When I changed the page permission to allow registrered users to 'edit' the page, it allowed them to bring up the control panel and I only want registered users to be able to post and browse on the site.  How can I fix this?

I appreciate the help - I'm new to DNN....

I am having the exact same problem. My site is hosted on Goaddy. They provided a complete install of 4.5.3. All seems to be working fine. I get no errors but I am unable to find the "grid" for user permissions. The only place I can see where it might be would be under "community" in the forum controls. The reason I suspect that is that when I try to expand that area nothing shows up.

Can anyone help with this?

If you want only allow view and edit access to the registered users, so enable only by administrators and registered users the view and edit permissions. Lett all others disabled.

Matthias
