Alright, I have tried to find the answer for this problem and I have had no luck yet so I will post it here.  I want to get a username from my DNN app and use it in another app.  Here is what I have and what I need it to do.

I have an app that obtains a login through Active Directory using the the provider.  Within the App, I can go to other pages that contain IFrames.  These IFrames hold different apps that may or may not be on the same server as DNN.  What I need to do is get the username from DNN and use it as a variable in my different apps.  The main reasons I want to use this is for adding someones name into the app (updating purposes) or possibly block or allow access depending on their name (not as likely).

I have read that there are no session variables and that this could possibly be done by using cookies, but I haven't been able to find out how.  The apps that I am using range from using ASP with VB to ASP.NET with C#.  Is there any good way to obtain the username from DNN by using my apps?  Thanks.

Is this at all possible?

I don't use the IFrame module for anything other than basic display so I am not real familiar with it.

But I did find this http://marketplace.dotnetnuke.com/p-136-viva-iframe200.aspx int he DNN Marketplace which is a module that provides the ability to pass querystring parameters, including userid, and username.  That might help..

If the core module does this I'm sorry, but I just haven't used it so I am not aware.

This method though would be the "best" way of doing it I think.

Stefan added a number of variables ("query parameters") to be used for integrating a page into an iframe, including a number of user properties etc. For questions, please use the IFrame project's forum.

Thank you both for your responses.  I will look into your suggestions and post back if I find anything relevant.
