We only ship a sql/msde/sql express based provider. We support a provider model so if you can locate/write a mysql provider it would be possible, but I don't know of one yet.

I for one would really love to be able to use MySql.

I prefer SQL Server, of course, but it is more expensive (hosting).  As I use DNN for creating websites for clients, the ability to save them money on hosting would be a huge plus for me.

I understand there is a provider model and the theory is that a provider could be implemented for a different RDBMS.  Would it make more sense to write an ODBC provider to support so that any database can (in theory) work with DNN?

Are there any official plans for other Providers to be written?
