Jon, it seems like you have done some great work to help module developers create AJAX and Silverlight modules quickly and much easier than before. The videos are terrific, and make the setup really easy. I appreciate your effort.

I downloaded and installed (on a fresh install of DNN 4.7.0) the two ZIP files (CoreModifications.zip and WebControls....zip) and tried to test my DNN website.

First, the website displayed without any errors, but I noticed that the menu was blank (not even home was displayed). Again, this is a fresh install of DNN, so the default skin is still in place (blue).

Second, when I logged in as host, I get the following error at the top of page:

A critical error has occurred.
Invalid JSON primitive: .

Are there any other pre-requisites that I forgot to do? AJAX installation?

Any other help is much appreciated.

I have not seen that one.  Did you apply the files before or after the installation of the DNN site?  (not sure it matters, but I only tested after).

If you could zip up your dnn folder and email it to me maybe I can make some sense of it.  Please include the host username/pwd as well.  Hopefully you are using the sql server file found in App_Data so it will be easy to reproduce.

Thanks again for your feedback.

OK, after restarting IIS, everything seems to work. I see the menu, plus after logging in, I see the new animation to the drop-down menus.

Not sure what happened the first time.

Next, I will build the sample module (from the video).

Thanks

Hi, I'm a modules developer and I just started to test ClientAPI/WebControls Beta on clean dnn 4.07 installation.
The first thing i noticed is a strange behavior in edit mode, most of module menu commands don't work, ( Delete Module, Move, etc.).
Additionally, using IE7, there is something wrong , beacause the horizzontal scroll bar appears when I go in Edit Mode and disappears in View Mode after I open both Admin and Host Menu.

Maybe these are all know bugs, but let me know if I can give you any kind of help to correct them.

Finally, using your template I created a new ajax compiled module, but when I try to build it I get an exception like the following : Target  "SetInfoVersion" doesn't exist in the project." (translated from italian).

....

ok, with a no little effort, I finally solved the last issue. I needed to install MSBuild.Community.Tasks, but the installation on Vista doesn't work for me.("Faliled to open xml file , system error: -2147024786).
Finally I found a trick in a japanese blog. Now the template seems work properly.

Regards
Fausto

Thanks for your feedback!

I had found the same issue with the menu click yesturday and have a fix for it, which I will post in the near future.

Could you be a little more specific with your horizontal scroll bar issue.  Perhaps point me to a url or email me a screen shot?

Regarding the templates.  Do you have the MSBuild Community Tasks insalled?
