Hi,

I have seen this problem before with installing modules:

Basically, you select a module (600k - new forums module, but it could be any module) and you try to install it. It eventually times out. It appears as though some files have been copied (I noticed new graphics) but I cannot get it to install. In the past, I have suggested to Smart-Thinker customers to increase their RequestLength in the config, which helped them occasionally, but it's not working. I have turned off compression and tried a few other things but I am having no joy.

Any ideas? The EventViewer justs gives the standard time out message, and smaller modules seem to work ok...

Confirm. I can't get the new Forums module installed. Tried extending the execution timeout but no result. I also tested on my local computer and it worked fine. This seems to happen only when we access the site remotely.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

if the server is really slow, or the connection, IIS might timeout on you. I believe the default timeout is 120 seconds. You can ask your hosting provider to set the timeout to a larger amount of time

The point is, I have control over my own server. I've extended the timeout value to 240 seconds. Besides, this never occured in older DNN versions. Even in localhost, the module uploading time takes longer than usual.

About the speed, my average uploading speed is 120Kbps, so there's no point in taking so much time to send a 668KB package (Forums module)

Ok, I tried 720 seconds, with no luck - it still times out! Any other ideas?
