Mike,

you  cannot use the newsletter to send out the passworts, this is prohibited by portal security. advise your users to use th "retrieve password" option instead.

I really need to be able to send out the username AND password to users using the core newsletter module. Is there a way to do this? A workaround? I can't use Sebastian's suggestion of having them 'retrieve password' in this instance.

I have Datasprings optin email program but all I really need is this one feature and do not want to implement the DS product on this site. Is there another third party simple newsletter like the core that would have this function if core can't do it?

sorry, but the only option I can see is a core mod for SentTokenizedBuldkmail to retrieve password prior to each sendout.
