I am new to using web services.  I am having trouble getting the

Entities.Users.UserController.GetCurrentUserInfo

to return anything within a web service.  I have a ASCX module which accesses GetCurentUserInfo properly.  The ASCX calls the web service from Javascript.  The web service is called and returns, but when I look at the above value with the debugger, there is no user identified.   The web service watch window shows Me.User.Identity.Name as the proper user name, but GetCurrentUserInfo.Username is Nothing and .UserID is -1.

I suspect this is something simple.

Thanks

I did look at IWeb, but I do not need all the functionality.  The web service will be called frequently, so I would like to minimize overhead.  I have seen other posts here saying that they are able to get UserController to work, but I have been unsuccessful.

i also require secure web services.  i looked at the iweb code but didn't fully understand it so i had to resort to an encrypted userid ticketing system.  secure webservices should really be part of the core.

Some more detail on what I am trying to do.

The user logs in to the DNN website.  When he then loads a certain ASCX, some Javascript code periodically polls through a Web Service.  The data returned by the Web Service varied depending upon the particular user.  A user will access the web service legitimately only after they are logged into DNN through the module.

Right now, I can get the correct ASP user name within the web service from Me.User.Identity.Name (inherited from WebServices).  However, I would prefer to use the DNN UserID, but Entities.Users.UserController.GetCurrentUserInfo.UserID is -1.

I am using VB and DNN 4.5.5.
