Hello all. I have been unable to figure out how to get the Dnn Scheduler working correctly so I can sent out auto notifications from my even calendar. The Event module states in the "?" icon next to "Send Reminder" when creating an eventl;

Used to enable automatic email notifications for the event (background). Enable and set the number of minutes, days, hours before the event to send the notice. Note:The DNN Scheduler be enabled by the Web Host Provider.

Now I contacted CrystalTech, who is my host provider and asked them about enabling the DNN Scheduler and they sent me this link;

http://www.catalooksupport.com/chapter-2.aspx?ctl=CategoryView&categoryId=41&mid=419

Which basically says:

DNN Scheduler

  1. Restrict the scheduler items and delete unimportant items
  2. Select ‘Disabled’ for the ‘Scheduler Mode’ in ‘Host’ -> ‘Host Settings’ -> Advanced Settings’ -> ‘Other Settings’ (not recommended!)

For whatever reason this doesn't seem right, especially since the words "not recommended" are used. I would just like to figure this out to get these auto notifications working and the DNNhelp on the schedule doesn't explain much into detail, or perhaps I just didn't get it.....

Thank you kindly for you help in advance!

I seem to be getting nowhere on this topic. I haven't seen much about working with the auto notification emails from the Event module and I'm beginning to wonder since I haven't generated a response in any post about this people aren't utilizing the module. I guess what I am struggling with and maybe some can just answer this is...

Lets say the module was working correctly and the auto notification email is being sent. What stipulates to what " email address" it's being sent to??? Is there some place I can select and address to send to?

please do not mix up the Events module and the Scheduler Events. The scheduler performs repeatedly cleanup and other tasks like building the search index. Login as Host user and try to increase the time between executions of the tasks, diable those, you might not need.

I guess I'm not understaning then. The help icon in the event module settings says, "DNN Scheduler" must be enabled and must be allowed by host provider. Secondly, do you have any idea what email address it is being sent to? There isn't anything that stipulates the email address you'd like to notify.

Thanks.

installation of the Events Module should have added a specific Entry into the Scheduler, which needs to be enabled. AFAIR you can specify inside Events module, how notification shall be executed, for detail questions regarding the module please post in the Events project's forum.
