Looking for advice or suggestions, please...

We are currently running a DNN site and have created a downloads page to contain large project-related zip files for client work. We move the zip file up to our server and have the client log in to download. This is cumbersome, and we are seeking a better way. The most appealing way to do this seems to be with the "SendYourFiles" or "YouSendIt" services that let you send large files via an emailed download link that is controlled by password. This would allow us to upload the file and then the client can securely download it via the email link. We need to maintain a professional image, so we would be forced to pay for a "branded" version of this that projects our corp logo. I'd rather avoid this...

I keep thinking there must be a way to accomplish something similar using the horsepower available within DNN. Any ideas???

You might have a look at Bring2Mind's (www.bring2mind) document exchange (DMX) module. It supports webdav, which lets you upload files just through a webfolder (remember frontpage?), it offers granular user security, and your users can subscribe to folders they got download rights to, so they will get a mail when a new file gets posted....

Hi Mike,

I have something like this up and running based on DMX 3. I can (bulk) send emails with links to a file and users click and receive the download. The link contains a random key and will work for a set nr of times for a given period of time. I found it very helpful in distributing stuff to customers.
