Hey Folks,
I've been experimenting with DNN, and my machine at work installs easy with Windows Server 2003, however my machine at home with XP Pro sp2 seems to be at best "persnickity". I've been thru several rounds of getting to a point where either the site gives an un-aviailable page, or simply that SQL Express cannot create an instance, etc...
On my XP system I've got SQL Express, and Visual Studio 2005. I had SQL Server 2005 Standard, but tore that out (no biggie b/c of my MSDN standing :)).
When starting over, what are all the files that need to be removed beyond:
- All the files in the web root c:\dotnetnuke
- Delete the virtual directory in IIS
- Physically delete in SQL Express the db, and remove the files from the directory.
I've spent several nights playing with this, and am starting to think I should use a Virtual Windows Server 2003 instance instead, but I would like to get this going in XP.
Can anyone send me a link (if it exists) to some more detailed step by step instructions for XP out there?
Oh yeah, on the 2003 instance at work, I used the "Starter Package", and the simple "Install Package", and was doing the same on the XP.
Thanks for any input anyone has.
Cheers,
ChinJazz
