I like the DotNetNuke very much it is great, but i face the following installation problem:

I am developing the DotNetNuke on windows xp professional PC and after finish the modification I will upload it to windows 2003 server.

In installing the project on the XP PC the configuration will be related to my PC, after uploading to the server what should i do to change the different configuration.

Keep in mind no Visual Studio on the server so i can't build or compile the application there.

Kindly advise

Regards

Without going into great detail, this can be described in a few steps.  The exact process for each step will depend on the hosting environment and the tools you use to get the data and files there.

  1. Create the virtual directory and/or web site on the remote server.  (Make sure that no one can access it yet - if possible)
  2. Create a database on the remote server (if necessary).
  3. Create a back-up of the local database (if necessary).
  4. Restore the back-up on the remote database (if necessary).
  5. Transfer the site files to the remote server, to the appropriate directory.
  6. Alter the Web.Config to reflect the new database connection string (if necessary)
  7. You're done!  View the web site.
  8. Restore the web site to allow everyone to view it.

On a side note, you should change the AutoInstall AppSetting to false if you haven't already done so.
