Hi

I am using DNN 4.6.2. I have created a completely new skin and additional containers. My skin package looks like this:

<skinname>.zip
-- containers.zip
-- -- container1.ascx
-- -- container2.ascx
-- skins.zip
-- -- skin1.ascx
-- -- skin2.ascx
-- -- skin1.css
-- -- skin2.css
-- -- imgs
-- -- -- header.png
-- -- -- footer.png

When I try to upload this skin package to my portal, I just a message that an error has occured, not even a log entry is made. I went looking across this forums and on the internet, I have looked at a load of mistakes that other people made, but I'm still not helped.

The only issue I didn't find, that might be the problem in my opinion, is that I put the images in a folder called "imgs". Could anyone look into that please?

Best regards
Varcour

From the looks of it, your package seems fine. Having the images in a subfolder is definitely not a problem. Some ideas:

  • Have you checked permission settings?
  • Have you tried to put the package in the Install/Skins folder and open http://yourdomain/Install/install.aspx?mode=installresources ?

Hope this helps...

Thank you for your reply.

I have put the skin package in the Install/Skin folder and did what you said, it worked perfectly. The only problem is, I have to deploy this on a site where I have no access to the fileserver...

You said something about checking permission, what permissions are you talking about?

For the record, I can upload skins that I downloaded somewhere without a problem.

Best regards,
Varcour

Well, at least you know now, that the package is fine.

I find it quite odd that you can upload other skin packages, but not your own . Maybe the other packages don't have .ascx files but only .htm files? I wouldn't know where that would matter by the way, but I can imagine it could be an issue.

Are you uploading on Host-->Skins or Admin-->Skins?

Check if the zip package include some hidden system files. This can cause similar error.
