In the new forum software, email notification is a great new feature.

However, compared to other forum software, 2 things need correction

  1. When I write a post, I get an email notification. Not required. I don't need to me notified of a post, I wrote it!
  2. A single email should be sent. Subsequent posts in the same thread should not generate a notification until I open the thread.
See the following for more details DonationCoder.com Forum | Powered by SMF 1.1.4

Thanks

Personally I like to have a notification of every post in a thread. It makes me aware of a very activer thread for example.

Web applications, DNN websites, modules, skins and support

1. is an issue of the new version, that needs to be fixed

2. is by design

Sebastian!

Sorry to hijack this thread but I can't get hold of anyone at DNN any other way.

For the last week or two I've been unable to start threads in the forum here at dotnetnuke.com. I can reply to other posts, but not start any myself. Instead I get an error as follows:

Add/Edit Post

An error has occurred.
Error: Add/Edit Post is currently unavailable.

An error has occurred.
Error: Add/Edit Post is currently unavailable.

I've emailed the webmaster address on the contact page without a response and I've been trying every day to see if it is fixed.

There must be something buggy or corrupt and I need to know what to do. This is the only way I can get hold of anyone. Can you pass a message on to whoever is in charge of running the forum here? I've been posting since the forum first started. This has happened since the big forum update, or possibly since 4.7 was installed here at dotnetnuke.com.

Regards,

Rob

Rob, its a bug. You can go into "My Settings" and check off the forums you are having issues (ie subscribe to them). This will update the db. You can then go back and unsubscribe. The problem is, the bug affects people who subscribe at the thread levels and until the fix is published (soon) it will be a problem.
