This is pretty much a mistake you make only once ;-)

In the future, try creating a subdomain that points to the subdirectory containing the DNN site you are developing (i.e. dev.mydomain.com).  Then when you go live, you only have to move the code up to the root directory and add a new portal alias to the DNN ADMIN page for the live domain (i.e. www.mydomain.com). 

This is what I do and it's been very easy, no more global search and replace of hard coded DNN URLs.

I will have to get another subdomain just so I can test it to ensure I didn't mess up my DNN site.  I have a lot... I mean A LOT of images hard coded into it...   all linking into thhe filesystem area of DNN.  I do think a macro tag would be a nice feature, but the subdomain will suffice :-)

Thanks for the pointer and I am looking forward to that search replace tool as well mentioned in another post.
