Hi all

A question about Database...

I am planning an infrastructure for 6.000.000 pages/mounth, and 500.000 registered users, is  MSDE Express able to manage an infracstructure like this or I have to use an expensive DB  like Oracle or SQL Server 2005 ?

My I use MySql (Windows)

Thanks

Sergio

I wouldn't recommend using SQLExpress in any production environment. I would highly recommend investing in either SQL2000 or SQL2005 if you're site is going to be getting any real traffic.

I agree with Chris on this. Another thing to consider is that the Express version is limited to 4 Gb in database size. With the amount of traffic and users you are expecting, the database would quickly grow to over 4 Gb. As for MySQL, you can use a different data provider to make it work, but you will run into some problems, especially with 3rd party modules that have MS SQL specific SQL statements. Stick with SQL 2000 or 2005 Standard or Enterprise edition and you will have a lot less headaches.
