One of the features of the new DNNMenu is the "Option to Remove All Use of Tables" I saw from this blog post: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/DotNetNukeProjects/CoreWebControls/tabid/873/EntryID/444/Default.aspx

When I use DNNMenu, there are no tables anywhere even for the sub menu items, so has the DNNMenu been changed to not use tables as the default?

The DNN Controls are written such that they send only data to the client.  Then once loaded, they will render the menu structure, so when you do your investigation, you need to make sure you view the "Generated Source".

oh, i see. So the menu is dynamically generating tables after the page loads.

Is there a trick to viewing the generated source?

if you use firefox, you can install the developer toolbar. That allows you to view generated source
